German carmaker Volkswagen (VW) announced that it achieved record sales last year as well.
The Wolfsburg-based company announced that it sold 10.97 million vehicles in 2019.
Sales, according to VW, rose in the United States, Germany and Brazil, while declining in the Asia-Pacific region, N1 reports.
A year earlier, a record sales of 10.83 million vehicles were also achieved when VW took over the title of the world’s largest car manufacturer from the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi and Toyota alliance.
The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Group and Toyota will release sales data for 2019 in the coming days.
In December 2019, Toyota estimated sales of 10.72 million vehicles, which puts them behind the German company.
In 2008, Toyota overthrew the American automobile concern General Motors, which has held the title of the world’s largest car manufacturer for more than seven decades, reports N1.
