Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey announced that the company would ban all political ads on that social network.
“The reach of political messages should be deserved, not bought,” Dorsey announced in a series of tweets.
He stated that political advertisements on the Internet represent a completely new challenge for civic discourse, primarily due to optimized messages aimed at micro-goals, unverified information and numerous lies.
CNBC states that the price of Twitter shares fell by two percent after Dorsey’s announcement.
According to Dorsey, the new decision will come into force on November 22.
