The incident that took place at the Dragova Luka polling station during the local elections in Niksic briefly raised tensions in that city, because the Democratic Party of Socialists claimed that one person had been beaten.

This was denied even by the head of the Polling Station Committee in front of the European Team for Niksic coalition, which includes DPS Vladan Kankaras, and then the Police Directorate.

The public was informed about the incident through a statement of the Municipal Board of the Democratic Party of Socialists Niksic, which was not signed, and in which it was warned that they would take matters into their own hands if the police did not react by 3 p.m.

In the same statement, they stated that there was a violent intrusion into polling station No. 118 by Marko Kovacevic, but in the statement they did not specify whether they meant the holder of the list For the Future of Niksic, they said that election material was stolen, one person was beaten and board prevented from going out on the field.

Kankaras told reporters that the voting was interrupted and that he was not there at the time.

“No one was beaten, the voting continued. The election material was stolen outside the polling station… Everything was done in accordance with the law “, said Kankaraš.

“During the voting at polling station no. 118, there was a misunderstanding between the members of the polling board regarding the ballot box which was intended for voting by letter. It was stated, as they point out from UP, that the ballot box was not stolen and that it was not damaged, “it was in the vehicle in which the members of the polling board were supposed to go to locations where citizens were supposed to exercise their right to vote by letter”.

They note that the information that anyone was beaten at that polling station is incorrect.

Cemi’s observers reported that order was disturbed at polling station 118.

“After the BO members took the ballot box by letter and put it in the car to go to the people who should vote, it was confiscated and put in the car by the representatives of the coalition ‘For the Future of Montenegro’, in the presence of the list holder. representatives of the coalition. A large presence of unidentified persons who belonged to different groups was registered at the polling station, and there was almost a conflict between them “, states CEMI.

Voting at that polling station was suspended due to the above-mentioned events. Police arrived at the scene.

“According to our observers, the police did not intervene, but mediated between 2 opposing groups of unidentified persons. After the mediation of the police representatives, the ballot box was returned to the members of the BO. The situation is normalized and the polling station is open. “After this incident, the presence of uniformed police on the streets of Niksic has increased,” Cemi added.

The holder of the list “For the future of Niksic”, Marko Kovacevic, said that there was a problem at the polling station 118 Dragova Luka when the Polling Board did not allow the representatives of the opposition to bring the ballot box together by letter.

Kovacevic said that the opposition was told that they could follow them by car and that the same problem was in other polling stations.

He stated that he went there because there were tensions and those gathered defended the car from leaving without the representatives of the opposition.

He claims that he came in and talked to the members of the Polling Station Committee and that they told him that it was in accordance with the opinion of the Municipal Election Commission, although the opinion of the MEC was that two representatives of the opposition should also go.

“Soon the police came, we heard the allegations of the Democratic Party of Socialists, which is trying to produce tensions. No one was beaten there, no one entered by force. I talked to the head of the Central Bank and he said that he would deny the allegations of the DPS “, Kovacevic points out.

He explained that there was no seizure of voting material, but that a member of the Polling Station Committee from the opposition moved the box to his car and asked them to go together in order to realize the voting by letter, but that it was rejected.

They also state that IS, a member of the polling board from the same polling station, was intercepted, and that her ballot box was stolen by letter.

“Regarding the incident that happened at polling station number 118, the statement of the president of the polling station committee, Vladan Kankaras, was maliciously taken
bearing in mind that he was not at the polling station at the time of the incident. Therefore, although he is the president of the polling board, he did not have complete information about the mentioned incident “, it is stated in the announcement.
