German car giant Daimler is preparing to cut 15,000 jobs, significantly more than originally planned.

The reason is to reduce costs in order to overcome a difficult period in the automotive industry.

Business daily “Handelsblat”, referring to unnamed sources from the company, announced that the president of the board, Ola Kaelenius, should announce the abolition of jobs these days, but also to announce the business results.

The company will strive to reduce the number of workers by offering them severance pay, early retirement…

Costs are planned to be cut by more than 1.4 billion euros.

Daimler did not want to comment on the allegations of the daily Handelsblat.
